Suzanne Elise Drive-Thru BBQ during COVID-19

Daily life is different for people worldwide, including seniors residing in Avamere’s Seaside, Oregon communities, Avamere at Seaside and Suzanne Elise Assisted Living Community.

Here’s what daily life is like at these senior living communities.

Temporary changes to daily life

Avamere enacted new guidelines to meet official recommendations by local health officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This includes limiting visitors, having all staff wear personal protective equipment in Avamere buildings, and adjusting or postponing activities and events to follow social distancing practices and state guidelines.

Staff have helped residents enjoy the day-to-day even amongst COVID-19 by assisting with phone calls and video chats and planning fun activities residents can enjoy at a social distance.

“People have gone above and beyond to make it as normal as possible given the circumstances,” stated Thomas Cloutier, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Avamere.

Upcoming events include a live music stream by local guitarist Mike Corry and Mother’s Day tea.

Residents also enjoyed watching a vehicle parade that started at Suzanne Elise, passing by other local organizations, including hospitals. Parade participants honked their horns, played music, shared smiles, and held signs letting residents and patients know they aren’t forgotten and expressing appreciation for staff on the front lines.

Suzanne Elise staff are still involved in the local area as well. They hosted a drive-thru BBQ lunch for essential workers as a special “thank you” for their service during a crisis.

Avamere Heroes

Avamere is recognizing Avamere Heroes on social media, staff that brave the front lines every day to serve patients and residents during a critical time in the world.

Avamere at Seaside staff Hannah Voelker, Life Enrichment Director, and Walt Plummer, Healthcare Coordinator, were recently highlighted as Avamere Heroes.

Hannah’s natural creativity brings new and exciting activities to residents. She also works tirelessly to connect residents and families through phone calls and video chats. Walt has been with Avamere at Seaside for almost 10 years. He regularly picks up additional shifts to ensure residents have the care they need during these challenging times.

Life continues amongst COVID-19

Avamere staff have proven through their hard work and kind efforts that life presses on during the COVID-19 pandemic as they continually follow their mission to enhance the life of every person they serve.
